Of course, I could not have picked a better day to hop on the skateboard than another day of street demonstrations against the Stuttgart 21 project. Because of this, my initial game plan consisted of one option: wait. I chose the main train station because of the shining Mercedes star atop the building, a symbol that I thought was the holiest of all to the Swabians. This star is also more than a little photogenic and was begging to be captured on film.
The whole pomp and circumstance of the demonstrations were done by noon, which meant that it was finally time for the most important part of the trip: skating! After one session in 90° heat, I had to keep myself from buckling over and find a way to simply stay up.
On the next day, I was headed towards my former home: the state of Hessen.
